Rent identity.
Lease survival.

and exhaust the spirit—
then call it participation.
But the moment something emerges

restore sovereignty,
restore relationship between human beings and life itself,
many freeze.
Not because they do not care.
But because reciprocity has been severed from civilization.
And yet reciprocity is how living systems survive.
Forests exchange nutrients underground.
Fungi feed trees they may never touch directly.
Rivers nourish ecosystems far beyond their own banks.
Even the body itself operates through continual exchange.
Nothing living sustains itself through extraction alone.

as secondary to civilization building.

who chose to sustain something fragile
